championship. It's nice to see a Big East team win a football
national championship, even if it is Division III.

(Considering how good they are in Division III, I wonder why
St. John's didn't jump at the opportunity to play in a major Division
I-A football conference like UConn did?)

Um Congrats to you and your team for thier trophy or bowel or whatever is
was you did today. You did good at what you did or so it would seem. I
hope you are happy and enjoy whatever it was you earned.

Ok, maybe you were joking with this, but that is not the St. John's of the
Big East. For one thing, their team nickname in Div III is the Johnnies,
not the Red Storm like the BE St. John's. Also, there is an NCAA rule that
if you play Div IA in hoops (or any sport for that matter) you must play Div
IA or AA for all other sports. This is why teams like UConn have made the
jump. This prevents teams from collecting big for qualifying for the NCAA
hoops, but playing lower competition in the rest. With over 300 hoops
teams, they must keep some dignity. Anyway, I believe this has been the
rule for quite some time. Correct me on it if I'm wrong, but the BE St.
John's did not win the Div III Championship.

ended Mount Union's streak.

Maybe they don't have that rule anymore, or maybe there's some kind of
grandfather clause.

Neither. This St. John's is in Collegeville, Minnesota.

While I've got the floor here, I'll put in a word for Carroll College in
Montana, which won their second straight NAIA football championship. They
were 15-0 this season, and have a 19-game winning streak. Story at
