college football elite?
I'd love to say "USF", but the sad truth is that neither does.
UF/FSU/Miami have the state in a choke-hold. There just isn't enough
room (talent) left over for them.

There is enough talent but after Miami, UF and FSU the rest is fought
over by no less than four other division I schools. There really is
not enough talent for the 9 Div I schools in the state of Florida.

at least 4 of those should be IAA. Sheesh - even FAMU tried to go IA.

If you care to distinguish between IA and IAA then

USF, UCF, FAU, FAMU and FIU are all DIV IA or at least FIU intends to
be IA in the next year or two.

Bethune Cookman is DIV IAA. There are two or three others that are IAA
also.

The major difference between IA and IAA is the number of other sports
programs the schools are invovled in. IAA does not require as many
sportts programs in IA. To move up to IA a school has to fund more
programs. The NCAA makes more of the differences between the two.

To the pros are concerned, there is little difference in IA and IAA
schools as far as the big three sports. Football, Baseball,
Basketball. Both subdivisions have ample talent to scout and draw
from.

FAMU dropped 1A aspirations last year after their President was fired
by the Board.

Maybe all the Florida Schools and Arkansas should form their own
conference.

This is true. However, there isn't enough talent for all the dozen or
so Div IA/IAA schools in Florida to have great IA teams *and* have a
good portion of the recruits end up in other states as well.

Schools in the SEC, ACC, and even the Big East poach in Florida HARD,
and even the Big XII, Big Televen, and PAC 10 get in on the game a
fair bit.

Well, there probably is, but a great deal of that talent would rather
leave Florida to play in some BCS conference than stick around to play
for the likes of FIU or UCF.

Big deal. It'll be years before USF is in a position to complain about
how unfair the BCS is.
